Shiny Toy Guns Earn Grammy Nomination

Universal Motown Indie Icons Score First-Ever Grammy Nod

Universal Motown Records’ Shiny Toy Guns scored their first-ever Grammy nomination on Thursday in the Best Electronic/Dance Album category for their breakthrough CD We Are Pilots. The electronic bands’s edgy repertoire of groundbreaking dance music has helped rekindle the genre’s increased popularity with fans and music tastemakers across the globe. The coveted Grammy nomination is a triumph for the foursome, whose relentless touring and intricately connected online community has made them one of the trailblazing, under-the-radar-success stories of 2007.

It truly has been a remarkable year for the band. In 2007, their breakthrough album We Are Pilots was released in the UK where it climbed to #1 on the UK Alternative iTunes Sales chart within weeks. Shiny Toy Guns also played a special performance in New York City at Kanye West’s birthday party, and scored a rousing guest performance on Late Night with Conan O’Brien and Jimmy Kimmel Live. They have also been a favorite of trendspotters in the branding community, chosen by Apple to re-launch their Logic Program. The band’s infectious music has also been a featured component of a worldwide marketing campaign for Motorola’s RAZR2 phone, as well as being featured in such TV shows as Dancing With The Stars, Private Practice, Dirty, Sexy, Money and So You Think You Can Dance.

The group enjoyed amazing worldwide critical and fan support with their smash single “Le Disko,” from their hit debut album, becoming a mainstay of the Billboard’s Heatseekers chart throughout 2006-2007. Their current single, “Rainy Monday”, is now climbing the charts and following the same success of “Le Disko”. Shiny Toy Guns is currently touring in support of We Are Pilots.
