New Release by Corea & McLaughlin Available Soon!!

On April 28, Concord Records will release Chick Corea & John McLaughlin’s Five Peace Band Live. This double-album was recorded during their European tour during the fall of 2008. As young jazz artists, both Corea and McLaughlin did stints with Miles Davis before forming their own revolutionary bands: Corea’s Return to Forever and McLaughlin’s Mahavishnu Orchestra. The music played by these two groups attracted multitudes of rock fans in the 1970s and helped to shape a new genre of jazz. Five Peace Band marks the duo’s first collaboration with a band, presenting eclectic nights of inspired music that includes nods to Miles (and to the late Joe Zawinul, with “In a Silent Way”), intricate acoustic jazz, exhilarating jazz/rock/funk, and intimate duets. Also in the mix are Corea and McLaughlin classics, and a special feature by Herbie Hancock.

PLAYING FOR CHANGE!

Playing for Change: Songs Around the World will be released by Concord Music Group on April 28, 2009. This incredible musical movement utilized mobile/video techniques to record outdoor musicians in cities and towns across the world in order to mix their sounds together. The purpose is clear: to connect, inspire, and promote peace across the globe--through music. From post-Katrina New Orleans to post-apartheid South Africa, spanning from the beautiful hills of Italy to the breezy beaches of California… the sounds of these musicians was captured in public parks, on cobblestone streets, on rooftops, around street corners…the performers changed, the environment changed, but the music & the message remained the same:

"The act of playing music with people of different cultures, religions, economics and politics is a powerful statement. It shows that we can find ways of working together and sharing our experiences with one another in a positive way. Music has the power to break down the walls between cultures, to raise the level of human understanding."
